The role

What this sub-unit is for

Staff Shops is Brigade Staff and the seven G-branches under it: G1 Personnel, G2 Intelligence, G3 Operations, G4 Logistics, G7 Training, G8 Finance and G9 Media. Almost nobody is posted here as a primary role — every seat but one is a secondary posting held by someone whose primary post is a rifle section, a cockpit or an aid post elsewhere in the brigade. The exception is G3's Zeus seats, folded in from the former Ops Cell, which are held as a primary posting the same way any section slot is.

That matters for how the shops actually work. A G1 clerk still stands in their section on a Sunday; the staff work happens around operations, not instead of them. What Staff Shops gives the brigade is a place where postings, the enemy picture, the mission plan, kit accounting, training nights, conduct and the Discord/website all have one person who owns them, rather than everyone assuming someone else has it covered.

It is administrative overhead in the honest sense — nobody joins the brigade to become G8 — but it is the reason a promotion actually lands in the roster, a training night has a plan before Thursday, and the website you are reading is kept current.

On the night

What you actually do

Before Thursday

G3 pulls together the mission the command team will brief, G2 puts together whatever enemy picture exists, and G1 makes sure postings and promotions are reflected before anyone stands up in front of the brigade.

Orders

G3 owns the operation order itself and runs Zeus against it on the night. G4 tracks what kit and vehicles the plan actually needs.

On the night

Most G-shop staff are in their own section for the operation itself — the shop's work is done by kick-off. G9 is the exception, capturing what happens for the write-up and the media page afterwards.

After

G1 processes any postings or promotions that came out of the operation, G8 reconciles kit and event spend against the unit's funds, and G7 folds lessons learned into the next training night.

Courses, in the order you take them

Every course below is run in-house on a training night and produces a qualification record on your file. Nothing here costs you anything but the evening.

01

Hold a primary posting

Every seat in Staff Shops is secondary — you keep your section, cockpit or aid post first.

02

Show it in the role you already hold

Most staff are noticed doing the adjacent work informally before anyone raises a posting.

03

Nominated by the shop you'd join

The relevant G-officer or G1 puts your name forward — there's no open application queue for these seats.

04

Signed off by Brigade Staff

Confirmed as a secondary assignment, alongside whatever primary post you already hold.

Where we are short

Every billet is filled

STAFF is at establishment. Applications are still read and accepted — new arrivals go onto the reserve list and are posted as billets open, which they do most months.
